Babs and I were driven to Washington Dulles Airport by our friend Kathy Powell. It is a miserable drive in rush hour traffic so it was greatly appreciated. We made it to the airport in plenty of time and were greeted by a long line at the ticket counter bag check. There was an even longer line going through security and I was beginning to think that we would barely make our flight. However, we were saved when I asked a TSA person if I could keep my left shoe on because of the pain cause by my broken toe when taking my shoes on and off.
We we moved to the “Handicap and wheelchair” line which was shorter and moving faster. The TSA guy was a jerk and let my left shoe remain on but I had to remove my right shoe!
We boarded our big Boeing 777 a little late because KLM had not finished cleaning the aircraft. I was seeing shades of our river cruise fiasco. We finally boarded and had a smooth flight to Amsterdam arriving at 5am DC time. The only glitch was that the entertainment system was unop during the first third of the flight, no movies. The food was good, the service excellent, and the cabin staff friendly. We also arrived 45 minues early.
The Amsterdam airport is a long, poorly laid out facility. It seems like we walked a hundred miles before getting to or gate.
It’s now 3:47am you time, 9:47 pm here. I’m dead tired because I haven;t had any sleep since we woke the other morning while in the US.
No photos today. I’ll try and catchup tomorrow.
Babs is already asleep! I knows if I wake her:
Babs Says: Let me sleep, I have to be up at 6:30am! Well it’s now Wednesday and Babs wants her I said!
