2013 Western Road Trip Day 21, June 19th

Leaving American Fork, UT, we will travel through the high desert on a sunny hot 92 degree day. We had no other side trips so we made as good as time as possible considering loads of construction  delays, most of which, long lane closures involving pace cars. Pace cars equate to long waits.

We did enjoy the desert scenery which seemed to change often.

We arrived at Cris and Jerry’s around 4 pm and enjoyed visiting with our good friends. Babs took a walk around their property with Cris and her Husky Misty.

Cris and Jerry’s property abounds with all sorts of desert flora and fauna. Babs snapped a couple of shots of these flowering cactus.

Before dinner I pigged out on pine nuts which I picked from open pine cones, Yummy! That was a first for me.

Cris and Jerry fixed a great dinner of beer marinated steak, squash, and some absolutely great creamy potatoes. After more visiting, we turned in around 10:30 pm.

Tomorrow we head for Capital Reef National Park with a brief stop at Natural Bridges National Monument so Babs can collect a stamp she missed when we last visited the park.

Babs Says: Old friends are like old slippers – No matter when or where they are always comforting.
