We awoke this morning to a beautiful, sunny but crisp day. We walked to the breakfast place up the block from us but, no surprise here, they we not open yet. So we packed up the car and headed into West Glacier to eat. After breakfast, we headed to East Glacier, MT where we could again enter the park on the Going to the Sun Road. Although it was still not open all the way through, we were at least able to get to Logan Pass, the highest vehicle accessible point in the park.
There is not much to say except that Glacier National Park is chalk full of absolutely breath taking scenery. That being said, I’ll bore you with photos!
We left Glacier National Park and had a nice lunch at the Park Café, just outside of the park.
The food was good but the waitress dropped 1 of Denny’s 3 pieces of fish. It was her first day on the job so Denny was gracious about it. He made up for the lost piece of fish by ordering a slice of homemade peach pie.
After lunch we headed east to our lodging for the night, Travelers Rest Lodge. Along the way we came across these horses just standing on the side of the road.
At the lodge we each have large comfortable cabins with nice porches. Unfortunately, the mosquitoes are voracious.
We ate dinner at the St. Mary’s Lodge a beautiful old railroad hotel with lodging and dinner prices to match!
After dinner we headed back to the cabins to hit the rack early. Babs is almost 100% well and Jane somewhere around 65%. Denny and I are still sick as dogs.
Hopefully after a good night’s rest we will all be much better. Tomorrow we head east and south to Gardiner, MT and Yellowstone National Parks northern entrance.
Babs Says: Sickness, bah humbug!
