Today is our only full day here at La Push. Our plans are to drive around Crescent Lake, a crystal clear mountain lake that is estimated to be from 600 to 1,000 feet deep and do the 1.6 mile round trip hike to the falls of the Sol Duc River. Unfortunately Jane was feeling too sick to to join us and stayed back to rest.
The hike to the falls is a piece of cake for Denny and Babs, but a bit of a challenge for me because of rocks and my balance. However, I plugged along and made the hike and was rewarded with a breath taking view of the falls. The route was filled with unbelievably large and tall trees, many moss covered. There were also streams that crossed the path in several locations. Here are photos of the falls and flora and fauna that we saw.
We had a picnic lunch and stopped by the lake for an ice cream and then headed back to La Push to enjoy the beautiful ocean views and relax.
Denny and Jane cooked steaks on the grill and Babs fixed her array of vegetables and baked potatoes.
The ocean views are fantastic and we planned the start a fire on the beach and roast marshmallows but it is too windy and Katy’s Jason isn’t here to start one like he did last time that we were here. So I guess we’ll roast them over the grill and savor our last ocean views.
Our last sunset at the beach. An end to a perfect day!
Tomorrow we head for Seattle.
Babs Says: Frank did it! So proud! Steaks tonight?
